MIDDLEFIELD, OHIO  After more than 100 years of banking service to Middlefield and the surrounding communities, The Middlefield Banking Company is introducing a new logo and theme. On March 17, Geauga, Portage, Ashtabula and Trumbull counties will awaken to a new look that now defines the Bank.

Captured in the newly raised signs, the colorful teal and gray logo epitomizes the simple structure of the bank. "MB" is now the simple by-word for reference to the bank, the familiar initials of how locals refer to "Middlefield Bank". The parent corporation, Middlefield Banc Corp., will change similarly to "MBC". The new, updated symbol is still reminiscent of the familiar quilt theme, but with a more modern twist. The simplified two-piece quilt star will soon be seen on all banking material from customers’ checks to certificates of deposit.

Dedicated to Your Future is the phrase that defines the customer-friendly bank. As customers have known for many years, local community spirit, front line loan decisions, and friendliness are the trademarks of the bank’s history. The new tag line and new look further define their goals.

The Middlefield Banking Company began operation in September of 1901 with working capitol of $25,000.00. During its century-plus history, it has survived five wars, The Great Depression, and numerous recessions in the economy, all while maintaining a strong sense of and pride in the communities it served. This focus has well served the bank as evidenced by the fact that total assets, on a consolidated basis, at December 31, 2002 were $226.2 million. In recent years, an expansion of its branch banking network has also been undertaken, with their newest opening in April, 2003 in Orwell, Ohio.

While 2003 promises challenges in the banking industry, The Middlefield Banking Company stands ready to continue to provide only the best in service and product selection to its consumer and commercial customers. Offices of the bank may be found in Chardon, Garrettsville, Mantua and Middlefield. Middlefield Banc Corp. is the holding company for The Middlefield Banking Company and is registered as a financial holding company.
