DUBLIN, OHIO Emerald Bank, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Middlefield Banc Corp. (Pink Sheets: MBCN), today announced the election of James L. Long as President and Chief Executive Officer. The announcement was jointly made by Kenneth E. Jones, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Emerald Bank, and Thomas G. Caldwell, President and Chief Executive Officer of Middlefield Banc Corp.
Long, a 36-year banking industry veteran, will have responsibility for the growth, direction, and profitability of Emerald Bank. A long-time resident of Dublin, Long is a graduate of The Ohio State University and has been active with many community organizations. He has served as a board member and committee chair of the American Cancer Society, as a United Way cabinet member, and on the boards of Kids ‘n Kamp, and Franklin Park Conservatory. Glenn E. Aidt, President and Chief Executive of Emerald Bank since its opening, has been elected as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank.
Commenting on the management changes, Mr. Caldwell stated, “We are very pleased to announce the addition of such a highly accomplished banking professional to our team. Jim Long possesses well-rounded senior management experience from a number of financial institutions. We are extremely confident of his ability to grow Emerald Bank in the near-term.”
