Cashier Checks and Advance Fees

Protect yourself from scams involving advance fees and cashier's checks.

We encourage our customers to be cautious of suspicious checks or letters they receive in the mail. Lately, there have been a number of scams telling recipients to deposit an enclosed check and then wire some of the money back.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is, especially if you don't know who the letter or check is coming from. We at The Middlefield Banking Company won't know a check won't clear until the issuing bank notifies us.
